Authorised users |
Authorised users:
- current members of the faculty, staff, employees, affiliated researchers, docents and contractors of the Subscriber (whether on a permanent, temporary, contract or visiting basis)
- individuals who are studying at a Subscriber institution
- patrons of Subscriber, if Subscriber is a public library offering access to the Products
- employees, staff and researchers of Subscriber, if Subscriber is a research institution
Walk-in-users means persons who are not Authorised Users but who are permitted to access the Secure Network from computer terminals within the Licensee's premises. |
Permitted use |
Use is permitted for the purpose of education, teaching, user training, distance learning, private study, retrieving information and/or research.
- view and display the content and data contained therein on terminals
- make limited copies of data obtained from searches in print or electronic format for educational purposes
- provide limited copies of data obtained from the searches in print or electronic format to other Authorized Users for educational purposes but limited solely to such educational purposes from an Authorized User to an Authorized User
- electronically save data obtained from searches
- distribute copies of parts of the Licensed Material in an incidental manner in print or electronic form to third party colleagues for the purposes of non-commercial scholarly communication or to be used for the basis of discussion groups only
- display, save electronically, print and distribute parts of the Licensed Material including trademarks, logos and screenshots for the purpose of internal promotion or testing or for training Authorised and walk-in-users
- Reading impaired Authorized Users may use Braille displays, voice synthesizers and other such devices to enable use of the Products.
Subscriber is authorized to incorporate parts of the Licensed Material in electronic Course or Study Packs for the use of Authorized Users in the course of instruction by using a link to the required material. Course packs in non-electronic non-print perceptible form, such as audio or Braille, may also be offered to Authorized Users who, in the reasonable opinion of the Subscriber, are reading impaired. |
Prohibited use |
Prohibited use:
- copying, duplication, redistribution, retransmission, publication, transfer or commercial or other exploitation of the Product(s), in whole or in part, where such acts are contrary to the Permitted Use.
- preparation of derivative works or incorporation of the Products, in whole or in part, in any other work or system.
- reverse engineering, decompiling or modification of the Products, in whole or in part.
- uploading, downloading, copying or redistributing the content in their entirety or lengthy sequence.
All commercial use of the Licensed Material is prohibited. Neither recovery of direct costs or costs required by law by the Licensee from Authorised or Walk-in-Users is deemed to constitute commercial exploitation. |

Authorised Users are allowed remote access to the Licensed Material by logging into the Secure Network of a Web Libraries system. |
