The Agent Metadata Service is responsible for
- providing instructions and guidance for the description of agents (persons, families and corporate bodies). The service is provided primarily to libraries participating in the co-production of agent metadata.
- promoting high quality description of agents relevant to Finnish materials.
- coordinating the cooperation with libraries and other partners in order to create consistent agent metadata.
- establishing a cooperation network between participating libraries.
- provising instructions on the use of name identifiers, e.g. ISNI.

- Directive Instructions of agent metadata description will be completed during autumn 2017.
National collaboration
The first partner to join the co-production of agent metadata was the Jyväskylä University Library (Open Science Centre – University of Jyväskylä) in October 2015. In future, the cooperation network will continue to grow by bringing together partners representing different university and legal deposit libraries.
